Shardlows Packaging has been a long-time supporter and club sponsor of Ferrymead Bays Football. This year, we were proud to sponsor the Under-15 Division 1 team at the South Island Football Tournament in Timaru.
The team of fifteen boys competed in a sixteen-team tournament featuring some of the South Island’s top academy sides. They faced a tough opening pool against strong opponents, including Cashmere Tech Academy and Queens Park Academy from Invercargill. After a mix of outstanding wins, some close losses, and a draw, the boys finished 11th overall — an impressive effort and an experience they’ll always remember.
As part of our sponsorship, we helped organise custom team training shirts, with each player finding their own personal sponsors to help fund the trip. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to all the generous friends, family, suppliers, and customers who contributed to make this happen.
Football has been part of the Shardlows story for generations. Mike Shardlow, founder of Shardlows Packaging, was a long-time player and committee member for Rangers AFC. His daughter Nadia later played for both Rangers and Ferrymead Bays — and now it’s Mike’s grandson Hero, who has played for Ferrymead Bays since he was five. His love of the game has been a big inspiration behind our ongoing support for the club and the local football community.
